Marine Preservation Association Membership

The Marine Preservation Association (MPA) was established in 1990 as a privately funded, not-for-profit membership corporation. Based in Arizona, the MPA works to promote the welfare and interests of petroleum transportation and energy industries by helping to address the problems caused by spills of oil and petroleum products on water.

MPA oversees broad policy issues affecting the petroleum transportation and energy industries by providing a planning forum for maintaining efficient and effective oil spill response capabilities and establishing funding objectives and opportunities for MPA members to participate and support these capabilities.

MPA members recognize the importance of maintaining a high quality, dedicated spill response capability to ensure protection of the environment. As such, MSRC's independent spill response resources and capabilities are funded entirely by MPA. This provides MSRC with a stable funding source that is not dependent on response activity. Only MPA members may enter into a service agreement with MSRC and cite MSRC resources in vessel and facility response plans.

While the two organizations operate independently, they maintain well established communications. MPA members interface directly with MPA regarding overall membership, funding and related policy issues. On an individual basis, these MPA members (who then elect to enter into a service agreement with MSRC) work directly with MSRC to support their individual facility and vessel response and planning obligations.

TO ENROLL: Contact MPA directly. After confirming that MSRC can meet your spill response needs in the U.S., MPA will provide a quote for annual membership dues for your type of organization, and a membership agreement. Once you have signed the membership agreement and paid the annual dues, MSRC will contact you regarding its enrollment process so that you are able to cite MSRC as your OSRO.

Non-Tank Vessel Operators: Online enrollment is available for companies that only own, operate or manage non-tank vessels in U.S. waters. To receive an online enrollment link, email MPA or call (480) 991-5599. You can also contact MSRC by email.
