In 2003 the Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) partnered
with the United States Coast Guard Office of Response and
industry in a PBS vignette to highlight the need for the
availability, and accessibility, of alternative response
technologies specifically dispersants.
The series, American Environmental Review, presented the
response community with an excellent opportunity to discuss
the use of dispersants and their value as a response tool.
Our goal in this production was to communicate regarding
the safe application of dispersants and the decision making
process involved in evaluating the net benefit to the environment
at the time of a spill.
MSRC is most appreciative of the United States Coast Guard's
Office of Response and Captain Dave Westerholm for their involvement
and commitment to this project. In addition, we would like
to express our gratitude to Mr. Bill Lerch, Chair of the Global
Alliance OSRL/EARL for his expertise and assistance.
