MSRC President runs Big Sur Marathon, raises money for wounded on USNS Comfort.

Steve Benz, President of MSRC ran in the Big Sur Marathon on April 27, 2003 and raised approximately $1,300 to benefit the wounded men and women aboard the U.S. Naval Hospital Ship Comfort. The funds were distributed to the The Northern Virginia Council of the Navy League of the United States who will purchase and distribute items such as CD players and Gameboys for the injured. Big Sur is considered one of the most difficult marathons to run because of the winds and numerous steep inclines.

Steve said prior to the run, “Whenever I start feeling sorry for myself about how tough the upcoming hills are or about the last six miles, it will give me new energy knowing that the ones that really have it tough are those struggling through combat in the toughest of conditions."

Congratulations to Steve and thanks to all the people who made donations. If you would like to help the men and women who serve in the U.S. sea services through the Navy League of the United States please contact Nancy Gorell, MSRC’s Marketing & Customer Service Representative at (703) 326-5614 for more information.
