The Mobil Communication Suite must be positioned in such
a way that:
- There is nothing overhead to interfere with the erection
of the 52' pneumatic antenna.
- There is a clear and unobstructed view toward a satellite
positioned at 97 degrees West and directly over the equator.
- Easy access is available to run cables and wires from
the MCS to the area where the telephone and data support
is required.
The running of the onboard generator will not disturb personnel.
There is enough diesel fuel in the daytank to run the generator
for three days before refueling. Spares are carried for all
communications equipment in the comm suite. The generator
is the single point of failure that could stop the system
from being operational. Arrangements for commercial power
or a standby generator need to be made as soon as possible
after deployment.
